Ryan McNally RN, BScN, MN Student

External Research Activities Team Leader

I am a graduate student in the Master of Nursing program at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto. As ONSET’s External Research Activities Team Leader, I am responsible for coordinating research initiatives with external healthcare organizations, professional bodies, and cross-institutional collaborators. In this role, I support the Principal Investigator, Dr. Holldrid Odreman, and contribute to ONSET’s focus on scholarship beyond academic institutions, strengthening connections between nursing education research and professional practice environments.

My work within ONSET involves facilitating institutional research partnerships, particularly through engagement with hospital educators and healthcare leadership. I am committed to fostering collaborative relationships that expand the reach and impact of our research program.

My research goals focus on enhancing psychological safety and supporting the implementation of innovative programs in nursing practice. My interests include collaborating in developing forms of technologies in nursing not limited to virtual reality and artificial intelligence (AI), to better prepare both nursing students and registered nurses for clinical practice. I encourage those interested in research to embrace new experiences and learning opportunities. Nursing is a diverse field, and I believe it is important to explore a wide range of research opportunities whenever possible.
