Isabelle Klapatiuk BScN Student

Communications Director

I am an undergraduate nursing student in the Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program at the Myhal School of Nursing, Niagara College. As ONSET’s Communications Director, I manage day-to-day communications before, during, and after research activities. In this role, I ensure clear, professional, and consistent communication among team members, collaborators, and external stakeholders, supporting transparency and effective knowledge sharing across all research initiatives. Addtionally, my responsibilities include media and graphic design, including the development of visual materials that represent ONSET's work to academic and public audiences.

My research interests include include addressing healthcare disparities, maintaing clinical competency in new graduate nurses, psychological safety and healthcare worker burnout. I am particularly interested to the transitions nurses face after graduation, how the shift from academic environments into complex, high-pressure clinical settings affects their confidence, their competence, and their mental health.

I view research as a continuous process of challenging assumptions and strengthening the evidence that guides our nursing care. Being actively involved in research, rather than simply applying it, has deepened my understanding of how knowledge is built, challenged, and translated into better care. I believe research is one of the most meaningful ways we can work toward better outcomes for patients, providers, and the healthcare system as a whole.
