Christian Baltus BKin, BScN Student
Institutional Research Activities Team Leader
I am an undergraduate nursing student in the Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program at the Myhal School of Nursing, Niagara College. As the Institutional Research Activities Team Leader, I lead research initiatives related to internal educational programs at Niagara College and in collaboration with other academic institutions. In my role, I support the Principal Investigator, Dr. Holldrid Odreman, and contribute to ONSET’s focus on curriculum design, program evaluation, and evidence-informed educational practices within nursing and interprofessional education settings.
Within ONSET, I supervise research assistants and student volunteers, coordinate project timelines, ensure compliance with research protocols, and contribute to grant reporting. As I continue to develop my leadership skills, I strive to strengthen the scientific direction and integrity of our research program. My research interests include learner efficiency, innovative teaching strategies, and evaluation methods, as well as cognitive behaviour, pediatric palliative care, workforce burnout, mental health support for healthcare workers, and the sustainability of the nursing workforce.
I believe that research offers opportunities to explore both the smallest details and the broadest concepts. It has the power to drive meaningful change, not only by strengthening knowledge but also by positively impacting those around us. Through research, we can foster growth, innovation, and resilience. I have always been motivated by a desire to understand the “why” and to discover ways to improve processes and enhance efficiency. I feel fortunate to have experienced diverse environments that have helped shape my research perspectives and contributions.
